Cutting Tools
- Keep blades closed or locked when not in use.
- Cut away from your body and keep your free hand clear of the blade path.
- Use each tool for its intended task. Do not force shears or loppers through branches too thick for them; use a saw instead.
- Clean and dry blades after use and keep edges maintained.
Pruning Saw
- Lock the blade open before cutting and closed before storing.
- Support the branch so it does not pinch the blade or fall unexpectedly.
- Do not cut overhead branches while standing directly beneath them.
Long-Handled Tools
- Store rakes and hoes with heads off the ground or tines facing a wall to avoid trip and step hazards.
- Lift soil with your legs, not your back, and take smaller loads.
Gloves and Clothing
Gardening Gloves are for general handling and are not rated for cut or thorn protection. Wear suitable footwear when digging.
Wall Mounting and Hanging
- Mount racks, hooks, window boxes, and hanging baskets into a structure able to bear the load, using fixings suited to your wall.
- Check mounting points periodically.
- Do not hang items above walkways where they could fall on people.
Assembly and Transport Equipment
- Assemble the Potting Bench, Garden Cart, Wheelbarrow, and Folding Kneeler according to their instructions and check fittings before use.
- Do not overload carts or wheelbarrows. Load evenly and keep loads low.
- Do not stand or sit on items not designed for it.
Children and Pets
Keep sharp and pointed tools, twine, and small parts such as clips and washers out of reach of children and pets. Supervise children during gardening tasks.
